wasting time & space ...

..... which is exactly what I've been doing for far too long. Not doing any projects, not posting on my blog, not doing much of anything. But I think it's time for that to change.

It's time to do some mini projects and post about them! After all, that's what this blog was intended for when I set it up 5 (gasp) years ago! (Did I mention that 'procrastination' is my middle name?)

At any rate I intend to get back on the wagon very soon. The club to which I belong will be starting a new project in the near future - we are each going to do a scene from the game "Clue". It should be great fun.

Mini-hugs to all,
Karen

testing ...

... the old editor vs. the new editor. Also testing my ability to insert photos and justify text with photos - and how those functions behave differently in each editor.

then there's this great YouTube video of Arthur Godfrey doing a Lipton Soup commercial. I love hearing his voice - it takes me back to a little house on Marlin Street in 1953.

Time for a new me ...

..... well, actually, a new Mii. On my run to Costco Wednesday night I decided it was time to do something about my sedentary lifestyle and it's accompanying aches & pains - so the Wii and Wii FitPlus just seemed to be the right answer. Justifications are many and run along the lines of: it's cheaper than a gym membership; I can do it on my own screwy schedule; I don't have to drive anywhere ($ saved); I don't need exercise clothing (more $ saved); I don't have to suffer feeling humilated by the cute young gym-rats; I don't do anything else for myself and my health (and Lord knows, my health needs improving); etc, etc, etc. Add to those the fact that the Wii is just plain fun!

It was after midnight by the time I had done my usual reading about how to hook it up. Then I had a bit of wrangling as I re-configured the existing DVD/VHS recorder hook-up - but once that was changed (and tested) the hook-up of the actual Wii went very smoothly. (Note: I haven't as yet installed the Wii Fit balance board.)

At last I was ready to play a game and have a bit of a work-out. First off had to be bowling (I spent a good portion of my teenage years in a bowling alley - enjoyed it a lot and carried a 180 average!) The first game went well and I thought it was going to be like taking candy from a baby - I rolled a 166. I should'a known better. Second game dropped to a 141. And third game went down to a 133. Oh my. Series total was 440 for an average of 147. I guess I shouldn't whine - after all, I haven't done any real bowling for over 40 years. And I am getting used to the feel & action of the Wii equipment. I could definitely tell that I was using muscles that I haven't used for quite a while.

Then I moved on to tennis (another sport I enjoyed as a teenager and young woman.) A bit more of a learning curve as far as the equipment - but I did get the hang of it. Well, losing 5 games straight doesn't exactly show proficiency, but I was able to volley for longer before making point-losing errors! And once again, I most definitely knew that I was working my body more than usual.

So, overall, after Day 1, I am quite pleased. Next workout begins in about 15 minutes!

new leaf

Turning over a new leaf - guess it must be January 1st. And, I guess it must be time for me to finally do something with this blog. Since I first signed-up for this blog I have made exactly ONE post - that's shameful. I mean, it's been almost 4 years! And I actually like to write. I suppose I've thought that I have little or nothing about which to write. Well, I'm going to declare that those days are over!

Write I will - whether I feel I have something to say or not. It will be good for the soul (mine anyway) - the rest of you are on your own.

Happy New Year and Happy Leaf Turning!

In the beginning ...

Well, I finally took the plunge and created a blog. I think of it as a small indulgence for myself. A way to record my thoughts and dreams - and, maybe, share them with others.

What will I say? Hmmmm. I guess just write about my daily experiences. I am thinking about taking a road trip to Florida - travel the Gulf Coast States, see new places, taste new foods, collect teenie-weenie seashells, take digital photos of interesting scenes, and just enjoy the little things that come my way. Me thinks this blog will be a good way to let friends and family know my whereabouts and such.

So, since this is just my first post, (and I really don't know quite what I am doing as yet!), I will close for now.

Hugs to all, Daisy
